Naš sestrinski ogranak
Autor: Marina Krsnik, 8. 5. 2012.

Ovu godinu dopisujemo se sa sestrinskim ogrankom iz Varne, Bugarska. Mladi su slični diljem svijeta i evo što su nam odgovorili na postavljena pitanja.

1. Where do teenagers usually go out?

They usually go to the Sea Garden, bars, cafes, to the beach in the summer. But there are a lot of other options- an ice skating rink, carting, different sport areas.

2. What type of music do you like listening to? Which foreign singers or groups do you like, and which Bulgarian artists would you recommend to us to listen to)

I personally like listening to various types of music, mostly rock, Latin and all kinds of cheerful positive sounds.

My favourite foreign singers are Alanis Morrisette, Bob Marley, Nickelback, Aerosmith, No Doubt, Shakira, Bon Jovi, Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Joss Stone and maaany other. I love listening to film music.

And when it comes to Bulgarian singers- Grafa, Maria Ilieva, Mastilo- a lovely pop band, Wickeda- a bit of rock, punk and ska, Signal- this band is a little old but they have amazing lyrics

3. Who are your favorite actors and actresses? Which films do you like and would recommend to us?

Definitely Johnny Depp. He is a very talented actor and has a wide range of characters, always unique.

My favourite movies are: Don Juan de Marco, Love Actually( watch this one at Christmas) Dirty Dancing 2- Havana Nights, Avatar( it has an incredible environmental message), Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.

4. How does your school system look like?

Children start school at 7.30. First they elementary education form 1st to 8th grade. It is compulsory to finish 8th grade. After 7th grade we have exams before we start high school. We are in high school usually for 5 years- from 8th to 12th grade. Then we have 2 compulsory exams- matura in Bulgarian and Literature and another subject we choose- language, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or something else.

After successfully sitting those exams we are allowed to go to university.

The school year startson 15th of September. We have three big holidays- Christmas, spring and summer holiday and many additional which last a couple of days.

5. What's the most annoying thing about the Bulgarian people? Are there any stereotypes about the Bulgarians?

I hate how people pollute the environment. Our politicians are totally corrupt. But we are warm, friendly and hospitable people.

6. What are the Bulgarian national symbols?

The rose is our national flower and one of the most popular Bulgarian symbols. We make rose oil and rose jam which are very popular souvenirs. Also we are known for the traditional Bulgarian folk music and dances. Bulgarian cuisine is diverse and absolutely delicious.

7. Where do teenagers go on summer holidays?

They go to the beach almost every day. We are blessed to live at the sea cost so sunbathing is the best way to spend the summer holidays. We also go hiking in the mountains or we travel in Bulgaria and abroad.

8. Do teenagers drink a lot of alcohol when they go out?

Although I don’t like this fact, I should say yes. They start drinking at early age and I consider this a big problem in our society.

9. What is their favorite drink and meal?

It depends on the personal taste. But in general, less and less people prefer the traditional Bulgarian alcoholic drinks- rakia and wine. When it comes to non-alcoholic drinks, I love airyan- it consists of yoghurt and water and it`s perfect for the summer heat. And I cant just sum up what our favourite meals are- they are just too many. However, like all teenagers, the Bulgarian teenagers don’t like eating a lot of greens, they prefer fast food, pizza, French fries.

10. How high is the crime rate in Bulgaria?

To be honest, in my opinion the crime rate in Bulgaria is high.
